AutoGrid Systems Selected as World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer 2015

Global Innovation Award Recognizes AutoGrid Systems for Innovation Achievements in Predictive Analytics to Optimize the Electrical System

REDWOOD SHORES, CA--(Marketwired - August 26, 2014) - AutoGrid Systems, a leader in Big Data analytics and cloud computing solutions for the energy industry, has been named a World Economic Forum Pioneer for 2015 for its breakthrough technologies that will help expand electric grids to provide more people around the world with access to power.

The World Economic Forum Technology Pioneers program recognizes companies from around the globe that have demonstrated the ability to harness innovation and creativity to develop transformative solutions that hold the potential to have a lasting impact on society. Past winners include Google (2002), Coursera (2014), Dropbox (2012), Twitter (2010), Solazyme (2012), Airbnb (2014), Mozilla (2007) and Silver Spring Networks (2008).

AutoGrid was one of 24 Pioneers selected for 2015 from hundreds of applicants. "The impact of technology continues to accelerate in all domains of society," said Fulvia Montresor, Director, Head of Technology Pioneers at the World Economic Forum. "To better understand the breadth and depth of this impact, CEOs and other leaders have come to depend on their interactions with the Technology Pioneers and their diverse and innovative solutions."

The Technology Pioneers 2015 will be recognized for their achievements in a ceremony on September 11, 2014 at the 8th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, China. The meeting will bring together more than 1,500 leaders from business, government and research from more than 90 countries.

AutoGrid transforms data into the cleanest, cheapest source of power. The company's Energy Data Platform (EDP) leverages petabytes of data generated by smart meters and other equipment to let utilities, communities and individuals fine-tune power consumption and costs. EDP can forecast electrical consumption at up to a million end-points every 10 minutes: this unprecedented stream of real-time information combined with cloud-based software applications for EDP created by AutoGrid and third party developers work in concert to reduce emissions, shave peak power, integrate a larger share of renewables into a grid network, reduce outages and maximize the use and value of power and power generating assets.

Utilities such as Oklahoma Gas & Electric, Austin Energy, E.ON and City of Palo Alto Utilities have announced the use of AutoGrid's Big Data Analytics technology to improve the reliability and productivity of their operations. AutoGrid has also partnered with several world-leading organizations such as NTT DATA, Schneider Electric and Silver Spring Networks to expand its market reach around the world.

Software analytics like EDP will also play an instrumental role in meeting the growing demand for electricity in Latin America, Asia and Africa were an estimated 1.3 billion people will link to the grid for the first time. Power consumption is expected to grow 93 percent by 2040.

"We are extremely grateful for this recognition of our work. A growing number of people over the next decade will enjoy electric lighting and other benefits of the electric grid for the first time," said Dr. Amit Narayan, CEO and founder of AutoGrid. "But this cannot happen in an economically and environmentally effective unless we have software and analytics to optimize the electric system."
