Rackspace Hosting has been named a 'best place to work' in the UK for the seventh year running in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies awards. The honor was announced at an awards ceremony held at London’s Battersea Evolution hotel last week.

To meet the Sunday Times award’s entry requirements Rackspace was required to carry out an internal poll of its workers’ opinions on their workplace and job function. A total of 83% of Rackspace ‘Rackers’ said that they were extremely proud to work for the company; and 80% felt that they could make a valuable contribution to the firm’s wider market success.

“Out of the thousands of companies in the UK we are thrilled to have made the list for the list for the 7th year in a row. That is truly an achievement of which we can be very proud as there must only be a handful of companies in our position,” said Taylor Rhodes, Managing Director International at Rackspace. “Every Racker is employed because of the skills and personality they bring that will help us achieve this vision ‘to become one of the world’s greatest service company’.”

As featured in the Sunday Times Best Companies supplement, Rackspace makes 91 hours of training available for every employee as part of the firm’s personal skills programme, from 45-minute knowledge bites on both technical and commercial topics to workshops for existing managers, courses for new starters and classes in negotiating and organising. A total of 78% of the Rackers would describe their jobs as 'good for their own personal growth' and 80% say the experience they gain in the workplace is valuable for their future.

Founded in Texas in 1998, the UK operation opened 11 years ago and employees over 700 people across three offices in the southeast of England. Rackspace UK has built a modern well equipped office environment operating a professional services backbone, matched with a relaxed and human approach to employee welfare.

Within The Sunday Times employee poll for Rackspace a total of 79% of workers said that they were excited about where the company was going in the year ahead.

The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2012 analysed a total of 1082 companies who registered to participate -- (34 big, 270 mid-size, 524 SMEs and 254 not-for-profit organisations). The awards were judged by using views from employees and the policies and processes of the employers themselves. The list seeks to identify best practice and ranks companies chiefly by their results in eight key indicators of staff engagement.
