Teradici and Wyse haveannounced their selection as the face of VMworld Labs – an intensive learning environment that provides up to 240 concurrent lab sessions covering 30 topics on VMware virtualization solutions.

VMware expects to deliver 5,000 live lab sessions on 46,000 virtual machines this week. All lab sessions utilize the PCoIP® protocol developed by Teradici and integrated into VMware View™ on 240 Wyse P20 zero clients. The Wyse P20 is the leading zero client for VMware-based virtual desktops, providing a superior user experience for the thousands of attendees at this year’s event.

“In the fast-paced labs at VMworld Europe, many attendees gain their first in-depth experiences with VMware-based desktop virtualization, so user experience, ease of management, and reliability are top priorities,” said Jeff McNaught, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at Wyse. “It’s no surprise VMware is delivering these labs on Wyse P20 zero clients with PCoIP technology.”

“Wyse P20 stateless zero clients based on our innovative PC-over-IP technology deliver secure, cost-efficient, and exceptional performance on both LANs and WANs,” said Trent Punnett, Teradici’s vice president of marketing. “Teradici is excited to be playing such an integral role in the enablement of VMworld Europe 2010 Labs.”

Details of the Labs architecture are as follows:

  • Running in a VMware View 4.5 environment
  • Wyse P20s in kiosk mode
  • View Composer to perform image management
  • PCoIP connections exclusively to View Desktops
  • Flash driven full screen menus

PCoIP zero clients virtually eliminate the need for desktop management because they have no CPU, application OS, device drivers, fan or hard drive. Significant benefits for IT organizations in healthcare, education, government and other market sectors include low operational cost, increased security capabilities, a rich user experience, and future-proof desktop scalability.
